Another TMZ for the Web

Oh, hey. Good to see you again. Perhaps you remember me from here. Or from slightly further back, here.

Or more painfully from here.

Please don’t click that last one. I swear I have learned to write better than a sixth grade girl since then; I’ll show you my college English diploma if you’d like.

Maybe if you’re reading this, you’ve never gotten to experience the bliss of a Thomas Mark Zuniga blog before. If that’s you — hot dog. My soul salivates for you.

Whoever you are and wherever you hail from, whether I even know you or not, I want to welcome you to thomasmarkzuniga.com and the next blogging chapter of my life.

TMZ: Silly

Maybe that’s where I should start this site-christening post. Why my own website? Why now? And why go all out with my full-length name whose initials quite unfortunately conjure up images of celebrity DUIs and other such nonsense?

I’ve been wanting my own personal space on the web for quite some time now. It was a matter of figuring out when I could realistically commit to using it on a regular basis and whether I had any kind of direction as to what I’d even blog about. Here on August 28, 2011, I believe I’m at the point where I now know those answers.

As for my site’s address, yes, it is kinda long isn’t it? How come I didn’t just go with something simpler like tmz.com?

Lindsey Lohan

Oh. Right.

As many of you know, I’ve long held aspirations to become a published author someday, and for a while now I’ve determined that my pen name will be my entire legal name: first, middle and last. The whole shebang. I have no scientific answer as to why this will be, other than it feels right. So whenever I’m fortunate enough to be published, you’ll see “Thomas Mark Zuniga” on the front cover, or more likely on your e-reader’s digital screen.

Or across thin air if books are read via hologram in 50 years. Anyway, I figured my website might as well match my pen name.

But publication is a topic for another day. Today, I simply want to explain my website a little bit. I intend for my blog here to be both playful and serious and there may not be any method to my madness on any given day.

That being said, I do have some ideas for blogging topics here. And you need not look any further than the scattered words in my nifty little banner as to what those topics may be. These six words strongly identify me, and they will identify many of the posts I pen here:

  • STRUGGLER
  • CREATOR
  • OBSERVER
  • WANDERER
  • BROTHER
  • DREAMER

As my first week of blogging progresses, I’ll dive into some detail regarding what each of these six words means exactly. In the meantime, you can check out my six nifty words page for some obnoxiously vague insight into what I’m talking about.

I’m excited. Excited to start this website and even more to share my journey with you. It’s gonna be a fun ride. I highly encourage comments. Comments are nice. And desperately needed for my self-esteem. Glad we cleared that up.

Until next time! The journey continues…

Good site Tom. I hope this forum is a success. From the home of liberty and cheese steaks I bid you adieu.

First thought — ‘He didn’t include “friend” in the descriptive terms.’
Second thought – ‘Wait – “Brother” is a more apt description.’
