Driving to Milwaukee and What We Did There

I may be done recapping my YouthWorks summer, but like that silly rabbit I still have a couple YW tricks up my sleeve. I’ve already posted about the promo videos that a YouthWorks camera crew produced from filming at our Milwaukee site. Well, I shot some videos of my own throughout the summer.

After starting the summer with training in Minneapolis, my team drove to Milwaukee for the first time. Well, my team minus our graduating site director — though as you’ll see, we managed to bring him along in our own unique way. And thus, the following video of our grand road trip was born, which we wound up showing to a couple of the groups this summer.

Aside from getting to know one another better, my favorite part of the 6-hour trip was deciding between the $3.99 gas option or the $3-mystery one. Makes me smile every time.

Toward the end of the summer I decided to film one of our more popular Club skits, which always seemed to elicit incredulous ooohs and ahhhs from the students.

We also performed this skit in front of fellow YW staffers during our debriefing in Minneapolis at summer’s end. More epic applause afterward.

Funny thing is, I did want to become a bus driver for much of my childhood. Maybe I dodged a bullet — or a kid — with that career non-choice.

Have I mentioned lately how much I miss the summer?
