TMZ’s Top-11 Pumpkin Foods (A Farewell to Pumpkin Season)

Goodbye, Pumpkin Season. It was such a fun time…

It’s been a while since I ranked stuff. What a horrible non-decision this has been, considering my Top-11 Hillsong Songs and Top-11 Casting Crowns Songs remain among my most viewed posts.

PEOPLE LOVE LISTS.

Lists keep the world in order. Even if said lists serve no relative meaning to your limited existence. Who cares? If it’s a top-10 list of the best doggie outfits this winter season, I’m freaking clicking through the first nine adorable get-ups just so I can see what NUMBER ONE looks like.

Top-10 lists are so cliche though. There’s a top-10 list for everything. Thanks, Letterman. So in an effort to break from the mold, I’ve concocted my own super special TMZ top-11 blend. Mmmm.

As we near the end of November (praise God), I have a delightful top-11 list for y’all. Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, we’ve officially exited Pumpkin Season and entered Peppermint Season. Ah, Pumpkin Season: such a special time. So special, in fact, that for the last month I went on a personal pumpkin crusade to try everything pumpkiney that I could.

And I’ve now assembled my top-11 favorites. It’s gonna be a pumpkin-packed post!

#11 – Pumpkin Pop Tarts

Pumpkin Pop Tarts

Note to self: buy the small pack of these next time. Because having 14 more of these dastardly little tarts in my cupboard is honestly incredibly overwhelming right now.

#10 – Pumpkin pie

Pumpkin Pie

An old autumn standby, pumpkin pie can either moderately uplift me or majorly deflate me. Just not a huge fan. I always need lots and lots of whipped cream to mesh with all that overwhelming orange goo. Truthfully, I’d take the worst apple pie over the best pumpkin pie.

#9 – Pumpkin cookie

I appreciate pumpkin’s effort to transform into a popular desert item normally dominated by chocolate and oatmeal. But it’s a tough niche market, that cookie market. Poor pumpkin just never had a chance.

#8 – Pumpkin cream cheese bread

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Bread

I enjoyed these precious little loaves of bread, but it was mainly for their lack of pumpkininess. So I’m torn on how to rank such a food item on a top-11 list all about pumpkins. If I started a top-11 list with supposedly pumpkiney items that don’t even taste like pumpkin, this would win hands down. SO GOOD.

#7 – Pumpkin scone

Pumpkin Scone

I was somewhat satisfied by this Starbucks offering. But c’mon. It’s Starbucks. Nobody ever raves about the latest pastries in the Starbucks line.

#6 – Pumpkin cupcake

Pumpkin Cupcake

So delightfully tiny and yummy too. But that’s just the bottom portion of this food entity. Because coming up at #5…

#5 – Pumpkin icing

You can’t have a pumpkin cupcake without pumpkin icing. If it’s sugary, it’s gotta taste good. Always been my philosophy.

#4 – Pumpkin toasted bagel

Pumpkin Bagels and Pumpkin Cream Cheese

Now we’re getting into the good stuff. Oh my gosh. Guys. Why do these bagels not exist year-round??? I almost cried after the last bite. And this particular menu option at Bagel Me! actually serves as another double-entry on the countdown. Stay tuned as you keep scrolling!

#3 – Pumpkin spiced latte

I imagine most would rank this trendy drink as their #1 favorite pumpkiney food product. True, it is good. I’m a fan. Tried my first pumpkin spiced latte last fall, and it did indeed change my life. Get the right combination of whipped cream and caramel, and you’re talking dreadfully good stuff here. Ignore the calorie count and just drink the blessed thing.

#2 – Pumpkin cream cheese

Even better than the pumpkin toasted bagel at #4 was the pumpkin cream cheese slathered all over it. Give me a bucket of this heavenly stuff to spread on anything resembling a bread product: bagels, crackers, tortillas, etc. I’ll forever be a happy camper.

#1 – Pumpkin spice egg nog

Pumpkin Egg Nog

I’ve been chugging cartons of this stuff with cookies every night for the last month. Help me. Really. Somebody help me before I weigh 400 pounds and my skin starts turning orange.

Did I miss something yummy? What’s the best pumpkin-infused food product you’ve ever allowed entry into your digestive system?
