Why I’m Giving Away My Book (Again!)

It was a ludicrous idea: give away my first book. But I THRIVE on ludicrous. I mean, all you have to do is read the final 2 chapters of Struggle Central to realize how ludicrous I really am. Plus, I used to love mayonnaise sandwiches as a child.

So, ludicrous was the way to go. This past April, I sent my eBook to over 100 of my newsletter subscribers around the world. Completely free.

Could I have “done” this whole publishing thing the “traditional” way? Sold the book for ten bucks on Amazon straightaway like any normal first-time, starving-for-attention author would? Sure. But I gained something inherently priceless by giving away my first book.

I started connecting with my readers on a much more intimate level. The personal messages and emails were only the beginning; the Amazon reviews told the rest of the story.

Over the last few months, I’ve garnered 36+ Amazon reviews, and I’d say that’s pretty awesome. For first-time authors like me, accumulating reviews is no easy task. And yet every one of you who has reviewed my book has made this task look easy.

I’m beyond grateful. And still beyond ludicrous.

And so, nearly 5 months later, I’m giving away my book. Again.

For the next two weeks, my book is available for free download at Story Cartel, an awesome community for free books. All that’s required in exchange for the download is your honest review.

That’s it! Just pinky-swear you’ll leave me a review within the next 2 weeks, and the book is totally yours to keep at no cost whatsoever.

BUT AS IF THAT WASN’T ENOUGH INCENTIVE, I’ll be awarding three random reviewers with a $10 Amazon gift card. So, like, if a free book isn’t enough to whet your wordy whistle, how about a $10 gift card that will allow you to purchase a book, DVD, cat*, or anything else Amazon has to offer?

*I’m not exactly sure if Amazon sells cats, and I’m too lazy to check right meow.

If you’re new to my blog or have been “lingering,” silently waiting for a sweet opportunity to read my book, I hope you’ll download Struggle Central at Story Cartel and simply post your review within the next 2 weeks. I’ll love you forever.

And who knows? You just might become an Amazon TenDollarAire in the process.

If you’ve already read Struggle Central, would you help me promote my Story Cartel download page? Here’s the link once again.

I love you guys! Whether you’ve supported me financially and/or with your gracious words, I’m so appreciative of all the support since April.

The exciting journey continues.

Travel well,

Tom

I’m glad my feeble attempt at humor succeeded at least in your case.
