#RunningTo Week 2 in Review: Las Vegas, Southern Utah, Zion National Park

It’s time for my new weekend tradition: my #RunningTo Week in Review! Week 2 was a special one, venturing from the desert of Las Vegas to…well, the desert of southern Utah. So hot, but oh so beautiful. The longer I venture throughout Utah, the more convinced I become that it’s in my top-5 favorite US states.

Check out some of my favorite moments from #RunningTo Week 2!

#RunningTo Las Vegas

Fountain show at the Bellagio! Somehow I missed these epic spouts last time I hit Vegas. NOT TODAY.

After my brief stay in Vegas, I ventured northward to Utah — no, wait. I actually had to reenter Arizona for 20 minutes before I could ELEVATE MY LIFE.

I asked my host what food Utah is known for. He responded with “frog eyed salad.” Oh man. Kinda gelatinous; kinda delicious.

Hardly on the heels of my Grand Canyon hike, I decided to hike and camp out at Zion National Park. Pretty spectacular spot!

Those studly mountains behind me are known as “The Patriarchs.” From left to right: Abraham, Isaac, Tom, and Jacob.

Water mist against the canyon wall. Heavenly.

Sunset on my Zion campout. I was SO isolated there. Eerily awesome.

Hiking Zion, caught between two canyon walls. Still chipper.

I swear I’m there.

That’s all for this week’s #RunningTo Week in Review! Check back next week for my report on the rest of breathtaking UTAH.

Until next time: what are your top-5 favorite states based strictly on the geography? Here are mine (so far): California, Washington, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah.

My best friend and I camped in Zion a few years ago (IT WAS AWESOME) and we definitely saw Tarzan at the Tuacahn! Such a good memory. Also a fun fact: there is a golf course close to the Tuacahn where they shot scenes from the ‘Bet on It’ music video from High School Musical 2 (not in New Mexico like they said): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwq2nxQng7s Don’t those hills look familiar now??
