Wandering Wednesday #18: Great Smoky Mountain Railroad

You guys. When on earth was the last time I wandered on a Wednesday with y’all? I can’t even tell you. (I mean, I could just look it up on YouTube — it’s right there — but that’d defeat the purpose of such a hyperbolic statement.)

A lot has transpired since I last wandered on a Wednesday! Like my getting on Snapchat, because that’s where all the cool kids are hanging out. My username is thomasmarkz. Please add me and join my illustrious team of snappers! I snap most every weekday morning just prior to heading into work, and I’d like to think I have one or two interesting things to say before going in to wake up a bunch of unruly teenage boys.

As you watch this special Wandering Wednesday video unfold, you might notice something strange or, perhaps, offputting — namely, the vertical layout. If you watch it on a smartphone, it’ll look great! If you watch on a computer, it might not.

IN ANY CASE, it’s all part of the experiment. Last weekend, I ventured to the Smokies and rode a train through the mountains, posting my adventure on Snapchat as it happened. I may start doing this more often — Snapchatting my adventures — and then later uploading the entire story to YouTube.

Or maybe not! Who knows. What do you guys think?

I guess you should watch said adventure first, and then tell me.

So without further ado, here’s my Wandering Wednesday into the heart of the Smokies — on a train, no less. What an autumnal escape.

Enjoy!

Have you ever ridden a train? Isn’t it the best? And what do you think about my Snapchat/YouTube plan, vertical versus horizontal videos? Is it awesome or awful? Don’t be shy!

GLORIOUS INDEED, Tom! I love trains. Still remember as a child taking the train from Texas to Nashville, with mom and some of my sibs. We even had a sleeper car! Heaven. Love the idea of adventure and travel and you and I hold that in common, too. 🙂
