To travel is to live.
Hans Christian Anderson said it best.
I like to travel. I think it has something to do with being human. But I can’t be sure.
I’ve owned my very own camcorder since 2007 and ever since, I’ve loved capturing the moment. Whether I was road-tripping with my brother and sister up and down the east coast, studying abroad at Oxford University, or watching mystical snow fall to Georgian ground, my camcorder was faithfully following every moment.
Much to the chagrin of my increasingly irritated loved ones.
Since I started this blog, I’ve decided to visit somewhere new every couple weeks and film a video-blog (or “vlog” as the cool cats they call it). Occasionally I cheat and wander somewhere I’ve already wandered previously. This has happened more than once. I’m a dirty rotten cheater.
But more often than not, I will visit somewhere previously untouched by my feet and eyes. And ears and elbows and gallbladder.
I want to see more of this majestic magnificent marvelous world. Wandering Wednesday seeks to bring me closer to this goal, one video-blog at a time, even if I usually never wander on an actual Wednesday but instead publish the video on —
Anyway, here’s a few playlists of all my wanderings, be they on Wednesday or some other day of the week. I hope you enjoy my ventures!
Running Too (August – September 2017)
For 49 days, I hit the road from Asheville to Denver and back — by way of everywhere in between and some detours here and there. The purpose of this trip was to finish writing my Running To book and connect with a whole new crop of readers, podcast listeners, and fellow wanderers gained in the last couple years.
Running Back (April 2017)
After 2+ years removed from southern California, I flew back to run a half-marathon in La Jolla. And I reunited with a lot of awesome people and spots, too.
Running To (June 2014 – March 2015)
For 282 days, I hit the road in search of newness and home. I ventured to all 48 contiguous states and even 6 provinces in Canada, a 26,301-mile trek in a Mitsubishi Galant that I turned into a book.
Eastward Ho! (May 2012)
For a couple weeks I wandered from southern California to a summer camp in Ridgecrest, North Carolina — by way of the entire country.
Westward Ho! (August 2010)
My life in northeast Georgia had grown stale enough to the point of a drastic change: a cross-country move to southern California. My first time seeing the West, let alone living it.
Wandering Wednesday (September 2011 – Present)
Every so often, I wander on a Wednesday and do some show-and-tell.
